Mike Pickens

Michael “Mike” Robert Pickens, 68, of Lucerne, passed away Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN.

Born on September 12, 1953, in Logansport, Mike is the son to the late Robert E. and L. Irene (Swayzee) Pickens.  On September 14, 1985, in Metea, IN, he married Lily May Townsend who survives.

Mike retired from A. Raymond Tinnerman. He was a 1972 graduate of Caston High School and enjoyed gatherings with his family and friends. Mike especially enjoyed cooking for Hog Roasts.

Surviving along with his wife Lily, are two sons, Michael Robert (Morning) Pickens Jr of Peru; Shane Michael (Angela) Pickens of Kokomo; daughter, Nicole Pickens of Houston, TX; 6 grandchildren, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Misha Nies.

A funeral service for Mike will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 23, 2021 at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Foreman officiating. Burial will follow in the Metea Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, also at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Metea Baptist Church.
