Oral Andrew âAndyâ Lane, 78, Logansport, died at 5:07 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2011, at his residence.
Born Jan. 19, 1933, in Crawford County, he was the son of Jacob and Blanche Hammond Lane. He was married June 25, 1955, in Birdseye, to Patricia G. Seibert.
Andy retired in 1995 from the Logansport State Hospital as a florist and grounds crew.
He was a member of Yorktown Road Church of Christ and the Golden Agers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean War. He loved to work in his âPops Shop,â building and repairing items. He enjoyed NASCAR. Andy also enjoyed spending time feeding and watching his birds. He also had a passion for taking care of his flowers and garden.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia G. Lane, Logansport; daughter, Trivenia Doolittle and husband, Larry, Logansport; sons, Mike Lane, Columbus, Ga., and Jeffery Lane and wife, Beckey, Lucerne; brother, Jack Lane, Birdseye; sister, Belle Bean, English; seven grandchildren, Dwight Dunwoody and wife, Sally, Rochester, Jennifer Bruner and husband, Chad, Moore, Okla., Amanda Mitchell and husband, T.J., Tulsa, Okla., Joshua Lane, San Francisco, Calif., Mindi Smith and husband, Josh, Colonial Heights, Va., and Madison and Evan Lane, Lucerne; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren and five brothers.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Rick Woodall officiating.
Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Golden Agers of the Yorktown Road Church of Christ or Hope Hospice of Rochester.
