Rachel Guthrie

Services for Rachel Elizabeth Guthrie, 93, Logansport, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home.

She died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2009, in her daughter’s home in Lafayette.

Born Oct. 25, 1915, in Van Buren County, Tenn., she was the daughter of George Shockley and Maude Measles. She was married Jan. 26, 1938, in Logansport, to Argel E. Guthrie, who preceded in death Oct. 23, 2003.

Rachel retired from General Tire Co. after 20 years of service.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and she loved to travel with her husband, Argel.

Surviving are daughter, Dixie Harper and husband, Jim, Lafayette; and granddaughter, Laura Harper, West Chester, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

The Rev. Bill Overbay will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Friends may call from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
