Rev. Richard E. Smith
Services for the Rev. Richard E. Smith, 73, Logansport, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Logansport Emmanuel Church.
He died at 8:20 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2007, in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.
Born Feb. 15, 1934, in Nampa, Idaho, he was the son of Chester R. and Ethel E. McCall Smith. He was married May 28, 1959, in Colorado Springs, Colo., to Mary C. Magee, who survives.
Rev. Smith was pastor of Emmanuel Church in Logansport. He was a minister for 50 years serving in Kansas, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, South Dakota, Ohio, Colorado and New Jersey.
From 1984 to the present time, he was president of the Emmanuel Association of Churches. He had a vital interest in foreign missions and visited Guatemala and Bolivia many times as missionary advisor and evangelist.
Also surviving are two sons, Donald E. Smith and wife, Angela R., Bolivia, South America, and Mark A. Smith and wife, Stephanie, Colorado Springs, Colo.; brother, Wendell Smith and wife, Pat, Falcon, Colo.; and grandchildren, Melanie Smith, Ashley Smith, Tiffany Smith, Shelley Smith and Chris Smith.
The Rev. Alan Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Colorado Springs, Colo.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home and 1-hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
