Richard “Terry” Annis, 67, of Galveston, passed from this life into eternity with his Lord on June 2, 2011. He died peacefully at 9:25 am in his home. Born February 25, 1944 in Cass County, he was the son of Richard E. and Edna M. (Pickens) Annis.
Terry, a 1963 graduate of Logansport High School and was the school’s first state wrestling champion at the 138 lb class. He won the Indiana Wrestling Coaches Award for outstanding wrestler, was North Central Conference Champion in 1962 and 1963, and Most Valuable Wrestler for Logansport High School in 1963.
A Veteran of the United Stated Marine Corp., Terry was a life time member of the V.F.W. Post # 3790, American Legion Post # 60 and the Eagles Lodge #232.
He worked at Wilson Foods until they closed and then for his uncle (Robert Annis) at R.B.A. company in Indianapolis where he built demagnetizers and pocket magnetometers that shipped around the world.
Terry enjoyed watching any college sports on T.V., NASCAR, the Indianapolis Colts and he also enjoyed woodworking. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He was known as a handyman to his neighbors and friends. Terry will be remembered for his love of life, generosity, and helping others.
Surviving are one daughter, Kim (Scott) Cover, Lafayette; two granddaughters, Jessica JoAnn Cover and Kaylynn Marie Cover, Lafayette; one sister, Sandy Annis, Kokomo; two brothers, Al Annis (Pam)of Granger and Robert Annis of Logansport; several nieces and nephews and many close and loving friends.
Terry was preceded in death by his son Adam Christopher Annis and Parents, Richard and Edna Annis.
Funeral services will be held at Gundrum Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at 10 am with chaplain Joyce Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Galveston Cemetery with full military graveside rites. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 from 4-8 PM in the Gundrum Funeral Home.
