Services for Richard âDickâ Ashby, 81, Logansport, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 4:15 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 10, 1926, in Cass County, he was the son of Vinel and Goldie Mae Hile Ashby. He was married Dec. 14, 1946, in Burlington, to Beverly J. Snyder, who survives.
Richard was an employee of the Pennsylvania Railroad for 27 years, and an employee of Chrysler Transmission in Kokomo for 18 years, where he retired.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 60, and he enjoyed golfing, electronics and working on cars.
Also surviving are one daughter, Karen S. Roller, Logansport; two sons, Mark D. Ashby and his wife, Gwen, Logansport, and Richard Ashby and his wife, Sharon, Grand Rapids, Mich.; two grandsons, Bryon Ashby, Chicago, and Andrew Ashby and his wife, Tammy, Grand Rapids, Mich.; three granddaughters, Kimberly Campbell and her husband, John, Burnettsville, and Lindsay Roller and Lee Ann Ashby, both of Logansport; one great-grandson, Tyler Reddington, Burnettsville; and five great-granddaughters, Amber Casey, Chicago, Madison Reddington, Burnettsville, and Elizabeth Ashby, Jessalyn Ashby and Madison Ashby, all of Grand Rapids, Mich.
One brother, Donald Ashby, preceded in death.
The Rev. William Art Maloney will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
