Richard Johnson Jr

Richard “Rick” Lee Johnson Jr., 43, Logansport, died 11:02 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Chase Convalescent Center, Logansport. He was born Aug. 31, 1964, in Kokomo to Richard Lee Johnson Sr. and Margaret Louise Wusnack. On Aug. 14, 1992, in Logansport, he married Jamie W. Helvie.

He retired from the Logansport State Hospital in 1997.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and J. McLean Moulder Order of DeMolay. Rick was a 1984 graduate of Kokomo High School where he played on the football team as number 72. Rick was an avid hunter and NASCAR fan. His favorite driver was Dale Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Jamie W. Johnson, Logansport; daughter, Lendzi Johnson, Logansport; son, Kristopher James Johnson, California; brother, David Johnson and wife Laura, Kokomo; sister, Rae Carol Johnson, Kokomo; grandfather, Rudy Malensky, Kokomo; mother-in-law, Stephanie Helvie, Logansport; sister-in-law, Louisia Pratt and husband Ronald, Monticello, and Brenda Forker and husband Jeff, Lucerne; brother-in-law, James Helvie and wife Kim Indianapolis; special friend, Mary May, Logansport; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Rick considered Paul and Sherry Smith, Kokomo, his second parents, and their son Kevin, Indianapolis, as a brother.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Gundrum Funeral Home, Logansport, with Pastor Jim Howard officiating. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
