Richard Allen âDickâ Martin, 79, Logansport, died at 4:05 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Seaton Specialty Hospital Lafayette.
Born Oct. 12, 1932, in Logansport, he was the son of Clarence Ray Martin and Flossie Faye Parker. He was married Jan. 3, 1954, in Thorntown, to Letha E. Williams, who preceded him in death Sept. 2, 2006.
Dick worked for the Pharos-Tribune for 25 years in the advertising department. He was also owner and operator of Bridge City Hobbies.
A 1950 graduate of Logansport High School, Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean War. Mr. Martin was a past president of the Indiana State Numismatics Association. He served on the board of several different regional coin clubs, including Logansport, Kokomo and Lafayette.
Surviving are daughter, Annette E. McGuire and husband, John, Phoenix; son-in-law, Casey S. Koons, Atlanta; granddaughter, Samantha Gaskill and husband, Rein, Maricopa, Ariz.; and grandson, Sean McGuire, Phoenix.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Dawn L. Koons.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Gross officiating. Burial, with full military graveside rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
