LOGANSPORT â Robert âBobâ D. Berkshire, 84, Logansport, passed away at 1:25 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Star City to Willard Berkshire and Myrtle Spears. He married Evelyn B. Rothermel on Feb. 9, 1951, in Logansport.
Bob was a proud retired teamster that owned and operated seven semi-tractors during his career. He traveled throughout the U.S. and some provinces of Canada as a long haul truck driver. For most of his career his trucks were leased to Dallas & Mavis Forwarding Company of South Bend, Mason Dixon of Kingsport, Tenn., Tucker Freight Lines of Kokomo and Central Transport of Kokomo, where he eventually retired from. After retiring, he became a part-time driver during the summer months to haul produce for D & R Fruit Market.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn B. Berkshire, of Logansport; a son, Rodney Berkshire, of Royal Center; a son, Kevin Berkshire, of Logansport; a sister, Carolyn Zeider, of Star City; a sister-in-law, Margaret Berkshire, of Winamac; one grandchild, Emilee Michelle Berkshire, of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers, three sisters and four half-brothers preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, in the Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel with The Rev. Dr. Horace Smith officiating.
Visitation will be private.
