Robert Brandt

Robert L. Brandt, 74, Royal Center, died at 9:20 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2010, at WoodBridge Health Campus.

Born Aug. 3, 1936, he was the son of Vernie and Elsie Bessman Brandt. He was married Jan. 24, 1959, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, to Marlene F. Chaplin, who survives.

Bob retired as a meat packing foreman for Wilson Foods, IBP and Tyson Foods. He had also worked for Bol-Lan Construction.

Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Marlene F. Brandt, Royal Center; sons, Scott Brandt, Lafayette, and Randy Brandt and wife, Denise, and Danny Brandt, all of Royal Center; and seven grandchildren, Justin Ijames, Cody Brandt, Brittany Brandt, Jamie Brandt, Sarah Brandt, Shayla Brandt and Amber Brandt.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Denise Ijames; one great-grandchild, Cameron Franklin; and two sisters, Lavonne Danger and Eljean Brandt.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Dr. Horace Smith officiating.

Burial will be in Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
