Services for Robert J. âChickâ Canada, 72, Lucerne, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 8:08 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, in Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Logansport.
Born April 7, 1937, in Rensselaer, he was the son of Kenneth J. and Wanda Elizabeth Fry Canada. He was married Sept. 19, 1959, in Walkerton, to Judith L. âJudyâ Bierly, who survives.
He retired after 50 years as a maintenance man for Hendrickson Motor Sales.
Mr. Canada attended Star City School. He was a seven-year member of the Indiana National Guard, where he worked in the motor pool, and a member of Lucerne Christian Church. Bob enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He was a former member of the Lucerne Lions Club, Twelve Mile Lions Club and the Eagles Lodge 323. Bob enjoyed collecting pocket knives, fishing and his cat, Sparky.
Also surviving are daughter, Theresa M. Barger and husband, Eric, Logansport; sons, Stephen L. Canada and wife, Robin, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Michael J. Canada, Lucerne; sister, Sharon Small and husband, Raymond, Logansport; brother, Bill Canada and wife, Connie, Rohnert Park, Calif.; five granddaughters, Lyndsey Hoskins, Amanda Canada, Abigail Barger, Morgan Barger and Lori Canada; and uncle, Bud Fry and wife, Joan, Logansport.
Pastor Dirk Raderstorf will officiate. Burial, with military graveside rites, will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children.
