Services for Robert Edward âSonnyâ Cosner Jr., 64, McGregor, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Metea Baptist Church.
He passed away Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at his residence with his wife at his side.
Born June 23, 1944, in Kent Store, Va., he was the son of Robert and May Cosner. Sonny and Patricia Ann Pickens were married in 1967.
He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He began his career at Overnite Transportation Co. He worked for 33 years as director of maintenance at USF Dugan in Wichita, Kan., before becoming vice president of maintenance at Central Freight Lines. Sonny was a member of Harris Creek Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, brother, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; mother, May Elizabeth Cosner Marks, Goochland, Va.; sons, Raymond Scott Cosner and wife, Christa, of Paducah, Ky., Robert Sean Cosner and wife, Kimberly, Richmond, Va.; grandchildren, Hardin, Davis, Christian, Mason, Dalton, Reagan and Emerson Cosner. Also surviving are his sisters, Goldie May Tabb and husband, Charles, Richmond, Va., Denise Lee Stark, Goochland, Va.; brother, Charles Russell Cosner and wife, Jaquelin, Glenn Allen, Va.; mother-in-law, Vera Pickens, Lucerne; two sisters-in-law, Judy Howard and husband, Dave, Logansport, and Vicki Ayers and husband, James, Lucerne; brother-in-law, Rick Pickens and wife, Candice, of Clio, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edward Cosner Sr., and stepfather, Russell Lee Marks.
Friends may call one hour before services Saturday at the church.
