Robert “Bob” G. Cree, 72, of Lucerne, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2020 in his residence.
Bob was born on September 17, 1948 in Logansport and is the son to the late R.G. and Gail (Foutz) Cree. On May 1, 1971 in Kenny, Illinois, he married Catherine G. Blackhurst who survives.
Bob is a 1966 graduate of Pioneer High School. After high school, he graduated from Lincoln Christian College and served in churches in Southern Illinois, Michigan and Indiana for 50 years. When he returned to the Lucerne area, he worked for the Post Office servicing the Lucerne and Twelve Mile area for 33 years.
Bob was a proud member of the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department (Lucerne). He served his community for 45 years in that capacity. Bob was a member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association. In his free time, Bob enjoyed watching the Colts, Pacers, and Purdue Boilermakers sporting events. He loved spending time with his family, especially while watching his grandchildren in their many activities.
Surviving along with his wife Cathy, is a son, Robert G. (Julie) Cree Jr. of Remington; a daughter, Carla R. (Corey) Gillespie of Brownsburg; three grandsons, Justin Cree, Jordan Cree and Owen Gillespie; two granddaughters, Emalee Gillespie and Mackenzie Gillespie; four nieces, Candice Drozdowski, Aubrey Timmons, Heather Brenart and Stephanie Cree.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ernest D. Cree and Dana A. Cree.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Gundrum Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Kenneth Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Methodist Cemetery, Lucerne. Covid-19 guidelines will be observed for visitation and services.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department in Lucerne, IN.
