Robert V. Gerhart of Logansport, Indiana passed away on June 13, 2013 after an extended illness.
Mr. Gerhart was born on August 18, 1932 to Charles and Gladys (Hobaugh) and was raised in Battle Ground, Indiana.
He was a Korean War era veteran serving in the US Army.He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Purdue University. He was a retired Educator with the Logansport School Corporation.
He enjoyed following Purdue sports, his beloved Cubs, antiquing and his family
He was married on May 2, 1953 to Dorothy Ann (Fisher) who survives him.Mr. Gerhart is also survived by his three children, son Michael Gerhart (wife Andrea) of North Judson Indiana, son Terry Gerhart of Noblesville, and daughter Shanna Flora (husband Gerald) of Logansport.
He is also survived by two brothers, Jack Gerhart of Lafayette, and William Gerhart of Monticello and seven grandchildren, Wendy (Dave) Barrett, of Lafayette, Michelle Peretti of North Judson, Kimmy Gerhart, Charles Gerhart and Samuel Gerhart of Noblesville and Kylie (Dustin) Cotner and Kristie Flora of Logansport and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Phyllis E. (Gerhart) Helmrick.
A private family burial will take place on Tuesday, June 18th in Battle Ground Cemetery, Battle Ground, Indiana. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 pm on Saturday, June 22nd 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, 800 East Broadway, Logansport, IN and the family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm until time of services at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation can be made to the Logansport Hospice Center in care of Logansport Memorial Hospital, Hope Hospice Center, 1101 Michigan Avenue, Logansport, Indiana 46947 or the general Fund of the First United Methodist Church, 800 East Broadway, Logansport, Indiana 46947
