Robert Laird

Robert Owen Laird, 92 of Logansport passed away in Millers Merry Manor in Logansport at 2:00PM Monday, January 14, 2013.

Born on November 29, 1920 in Fulton County, he was the son of the late Owen & Ruth Bevelheimer Laird. On August 25, 1946 he married Mary Jane Chambers who preceded him in death on August 19, 2005.

Robert worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad as a fireman and then retired in 1995 as the owner and operator of Markley Abstract Company after 45 years.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Robert was a United States Navy Veteran, serving on the USS Detroit. He was also a member of the American Legion Post#60, and the Elks Lodge #66.

Surviving Robert is 1 Daughter, Ruth E. Laird, Overland Park, KS; 1 son, Mike (Pamela) Laird, Logansport; 3 grandchildren, Michelle A. (Phill) Laird Dials, Logansport; Michael D. Laird, and Melissa D. Laird, both of Indianapolis; 2 brothers, Donald (Merriam) Laird, Camarillo, CA; and Walter Laird, Mt. Shasta, CA.

Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 19 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Larry DeVos officiating. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery in Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 3:00 PM on Saturday also in the Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
