Services for Robert L. "Moldy," "Jonesey," "Papa" Molden Sr., 87, Logansport, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
He died at 12:39 a.m. Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, in Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Sept. 25, 1919, in Peru, he was the son of Charles B. and Hettie J. Arthur Molden. He was married May 18, 1942, in Evansville, to Lula B. Smith, who survives.
Robert retired in 1983 after 37 years as an electrical and gas engineer for Northern Indiana Public Service.
He had also worked part time for the Cutler-Jones Hardware Store in Peru for 35 years and Riverside Miniature Golf Course in Logansport for over 25 years.
He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3790.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II in the following units; Company H 151st Infantry 38th Division, Company H 180th Infantry 45th Division, Base Surgeons Office, Headquarters Atlantic Base Section and the 43rd General Hospital. He served in Sicily, North Africa, Italy and France.
Robert spent many hours at the White House Restaurant, volunteering his time to meet new acquaintances. Robert never new a stranger.
Also surviving are sons, Phillip E. Molden and his companion, Kim Krutz, Stephen Randall Molden his wife, Jody, and Robert L. Molden Jr. and his wife, Ruby, all of Logansport; one daughter, Debra C. Reeser and her husband, Mike, Walton; 12 grandchildren; 17 great- grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and best friends, Marvin Shepler and his wife, Lucille, Logansport.
One brother and one sister preceded in death.
The Rev. Brooks Sayer will officiate at the services. Burial, with full military rites, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Indiana Veterans Home.
