Born on November 3, 1924 in Logansport, Roger was the son of the late Clay B. and Charlotte (Morgan) Ide. On October 29, 1950 in Logansport he married Margaret Ann Gotshall who survives, and they enjoyed sixty four years together as a couple.
Roger was a member of the American Legion Post 60, V.F.W. Post 3790, Indiana and American Societies of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers’, and Webb Chapel United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Roger served on and was Past President of the Pioneer School Board and was a former member of the Cass County Council and Cass County Commissioners.
Roger was a 1942 graduate of Logansport High School and a 1950 graduate of Purdue with a degree in Agriculture. Roger volunteered for service in World War II in December of 1942, following his two brothers who had previously enlisted. Roger’s warm smile and winning personality endeared him to all who knew him. He was quick with a joke and he possessed a keen sense of humor. He was a kind, principled man whose integrity and leadership qualities set him apart from the rest.
Roger loved spending time with his wife Margaret, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
