Ruth Annette (Michael) Heinrich, 93, Logansport, died at 4:57 a.m.
Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 23, 1916 in Jefferson Township, Cass County,
the daughter of Charles A. and Ethel (Herman) Michael. She married
Fred A. Heinrich on Feb. 14, 1937 in Logansport, and he preceded
her in death on Nov. 1, 1992.
She attended elementary school in Burnettsville and was a 1933
graduate of Logansport High School. Ruth was a former employee
of Porter Drug store at 4th and Market Street and the Golden Rule
Department Store, which was also known as Schmitt-Kloepher Co.
Ruth and her husband Fred resided in Chicago until 1944, when
Fred went to serve in the Navy during World War II. She moved back
to Logansport during that time to help run the family business, and
retired as co-owner of Charles A. Michael Heating and Plumbing.
Throughout her lifetime she was very actively involved with church
life, teaching Sunday school, mentoring and providing spiritual
encouragement to all. United Methodist Women was an intregal part
of her life as she served in many leadership roles in the Logansport
and Kokomo districts of the United Methodist Church as well the
North Indiana Conference.
Ruth was a former local volunteer in the Boy Scouts program,
Salvation Army, Memorial Hospital, Red Cross, Cass County
Churches United and the Logansport area Church Women United.
Survivors include a son, Steven Charles Heinrich, Logansport; Sue
Dunham, Burlington and Doris Shoopmon, Muncie, who she
considered to be her daughters; and a cousin, LaVonne “Mertz”
Rozhon, El Granda, Calif.
A son, Michael Richard Heinrich, preceded her in death.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at Gundrum Funeral Home,
Logansport, with Pastor George Plasterer officiating. Burial will be in
Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday
and one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
