Ruth Ann Kirby, 69, Logansport, died at 11:53 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010, in the emergency room at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Born Jan. 9, 1941, in Thornhope, she was the daughter of Walter Strong and Hazel Lones. She was married July 2, 1966, in Logansport, to John James Kirby, who preceded in death Nov. 28, 1997.
Ruth Ann retired from General Tire after 30 plus years of service.
Ruth Ann was a 1959 graduate of Logansport High School and was a member of the VFW Post 3790 Ladies Auxiliary and Fraternal Order of Eagles 323 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards.
Surviving are daughters, Cheryl Woodke and husband, Roger, Logansport, Angelia Trapp and husband, Mitch, Indianapolis, and Kim Piercy and husband, Scot, and Sallie Layman and husband, Larry, all of Phoenix; son, John W. Kirby, Dallas; nine grandchildren, Ian James Krohn, Trevor Krohn, Bryan Krohn, Terry Piercy, Jessica Piercy, Brett Duevalle, Corrina Duevalle, Joseph Hill and Jacob Ulery; four great-grandchildren, Dayshawn, Van, Devin and Robert; sister, Susie Ankney and husband, Maynard, Ohio; brother, Richard Strong and wife, Brenda, Georgia.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Horace Smith officiating.
Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Cass County.
Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
