Ruth Smith

Ruth May Smith, 83, Logansport, died at 4:50 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Born Aug. 16, 1927, in Henry County, she was the daughter of Virgil and Lela Estes Todd. She was married Dec. 30, 1945, in Henry County, to Milford H. Smith Sr.

Ruth was a homemaker. She was an avid singer and enjoyed spending time with family.

Surviving are her husband, Milford H. Smith Sr., Logansport; daughters, Hurlene Swartz and husband, Grant, Elizabethtown, Rachel Hunt, Greenfield, and Sarah Carpenter, Traverse City, Mich.; sons, Milford H. Smith Jr. and wife, Rinda, and Roger Smith, all of Logansport; sister, Hazel Josephine Hurt, Columbia City; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and eight sisters.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Lane officiating.

Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
