Ruth Whipple

Ruth “Jane” Whipple, 70, Logansport, died at 12:25 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at Chase Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Aug. 1, 1940, in Crawfordsville, she was the daughter of Earl Franklin and Cora Cleo Coon Herron. She was married Feb. 15, 1960, in Crawfordsville, to Kenneth L. Whipple, who preceded in death on Dec. 29, 2009.

She was a retired dietary worker and cook for Four County Mental Health. She was a member of the Eagles Lodge 323 Auxiliary.

Surviving are daughters, Jean Kemper, Peru, Anna Elpers and husband, John, Logansport, and Cheryl Carlson and husband, Jeffrey, Shelbyville; son, Keith Whipple, Virginia; brothers, Bill Herron and Margorie, Pittsboro, Charles Herron and wife, JoAnn, Waynetown, and Jack Herron and wife, Carol, Crawfordsville; sisters, Ruby Ralston, Decatur, Mary Abston and husband, Norman, Willard, Ohio, and Helen Rutledge, Veedersburg; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Kenny Kemper.

There will be no services or visitation. Burial will be private.
