Sarah Viola Shaw Doran
Services for Sarah Viola Shaw Doran, 89, New Waverly, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Gundrum Funeral Home.
She died at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, April 10, 2007, in her residence.
Born April 17, 1917, in Logansport, she was the daughter of Charles N. and Sarah Myrtle Hand Shaw. She was married Jan. 27, 1940, in Walton, to Charles E. Doran, who survives.
A 1936 graduate of Onward High School, Sarah was a homemaker. She also had worked at SS Kresge Dime Store and the General Store in New Waverly.
She was a member of New Waverly United Methodist Church and the W.O.T.M. Logansport Chapter.
Sarah was an avid bingo player, enjoyed fishing and loved working puzzles.
Also surviving are one son, Richard Doran, and his wife, Ingrid, El Paso, Texas; daughters, Gloria Ott, and her husband, Gary, Logansport, and Sally Karkkainen, and her husband, Steven, Schofield, Wis.; grandchildren, Jim Doran, and his wife, Mary, and Tom Doran, all of El Paso, Texas, Diana Walls and her husband, Ron, West Pueblo, Colo., Dana Ott, Logansport, John Ott, Avondale, Ariz., Lisa Kipina and her husband, Ken, Calumet, Mich., Dan Karkkainen and his wife, Deanna, Hatley, Wis., 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Her twin brother, Charles Shaw, and sisters, Gladys V. Bowyer and Margaret Greasor, preceded in death.
The Rev. Keith Schreffler will officiate at the services. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Waverly Volunteer Fire Department.
