Cpl. Shawn D. Hensel, 20, Logansport, died at 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, in West Baghdad. He was born June 29, 1987, in Logansport, to David Hensel and Elizabeth Ann Burkit. He married Laci N. Harmon, on Dec. 28, 2006, in Monticello.
Cpl. Shawn was active military serving with Company B 2nd Battalion 23rd infantry 4th SBCT. Shawn had attended Logansport High School and obtained his general education diploma in 2006.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #60. He loved to camp, go kayaking and go four-wheeling.

Mark Harmon and wife Shelly, Brookston; mother-in-law, Carey Clothier, Patton; stepfather-in-law, Robert Yard, Logansport; sisters, Autumn M. Vail, Logansport, and Angela R. Hensel, Bloomington; sister-in-law, Ashley Yard; brothers-in-law, Zachary Yard, and Tyler and Trevor Harmon, all of Logansport; aunts, Rosanne Brown and husband Mike, Southport, Linda Maxson and husband Don, Hoover, and Mary Lou Robinson and husband Raymond, Logansport; uncles, Steve Hensel and wife Mary, and Rick Hensel, all of Logansport; stepuncles, Craig Hoff and wife Scarlett, and Paul Hoff and wife Kelly, all of Logansport; and one niece and nephew, Ica and Rory Vail, both of Logansport.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hiram and Patricia Hensel, Paul and Glenna Burkit and Betty Hensel.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church, 831 Burlington Ave., Logansport, with Jeff Strite officiating.
Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park Cemetery, Logansport, with full military rites given. Visitation will be from Noon to 8 p.m.
Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #60, V.F.W. Post #3790 or to the Fishers House Foundation.
