Thomas L. Appleton, 75
DELPHI — Thomas Lee Appleton, 75, of Delphi, died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at his residence.
Born Jan. 8, 1935, in Carroll County, he was the son of Jay and Opal Lois Gray Appleton.
On Dec. 20, 1957, he married Jean Ann Flora in Carroll County, and she survives.
Mr. Appleton retired in 1997 after 37 years as an attendant supervisor at the Logansport State Hospital.
He was a member and elder of Burrows Presbyterian Church, and was past grand of the International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge.
He enjoyed gardening, farming, butchering, playing cards and time with his family.
Surviving with his wife are three sons, Mark Appleton (wife: Becky) of Trafalgar, Ronald Appleton (wife: Patricia) of Monticello and Michael Appleton (wife: Tommi) of Delphi; two daughters, Caron Fivecoate (husband: Randy) and Susan Hill (husband: Kenny), both of Delphi; two sisters, Kathleen Michael of Camden and Jane Slusser (husband: Bernard) of Logansport; and two brothers, Charles Appleton (wife: Carolyn) of Burrows and Harold Appleton (wife: Marcia) of Walton.
Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Judy Kline of Monticello; 2 sisters-in-law, Shelby Appleton of Logansport and Mary Ann Downhour of Walton; 14 grandchildren, Chad Appleton, Bethany Appleton, Josh Appleton, Stephanie Trittipo, Luke Appleton, Jeremy Appleton, Anne McKenzie, Tami Veach, Chloe Fivecoate, Ivan Veach, David Veach, Mack Appleton, Cole Appleton and Keenan Appleton; and 4 great-grandchildren, Trent, Tylene, Wyatt and Mackenzie. He was preceded in death by a son, John Appleton; a son-in-law, Thomas Veach; 2 grandsons, Todd Veach and Lee Fivecoate; and 3 brothers, Robert, James and Joe Appleton.
Visitation 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010, at Gundrum Funeral Home, Logansport. Services there at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, the Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating.
