Vernon Willis Hile, 77, Logansport, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at his residence.
Born Oct. 6, 1935, in Logansport, he was the son of Jessie Hile and Florence Cohee. He was married June 20, 1955, in Logansport, to Bonnie Hile.
He was an operations foreman for animal bi-products in New Carlisle.
He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. Vernon was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Bonnie Hile, Logansport; children, Allan S. Hile, South Bend, Connie and husband, Joe Schenke, New York, Laura Hile, South Bend, Cindy Hardy and husband, Stephen, Christy Hile, and Ashley Roudebush and husband, Josh, all of Logansport, Nick Hile and wife, Tiffany, Lucerne, and Heather Hile, Indianapolis; several grandchildren; and sister, Rosalie Pifer, Logansport.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Gundrum Funeral Home with Dr. Horace Smith and Pastor Joe Schenke officiating. Graveside services, with full military rites, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, Logansport.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gideons or First Church of the Nazarene.
