Violet D. Nelson, 92, Logansport, passed away Wed., January 15, 2014 in her residence, surrounded by her family.
Born Nov. 1, 1921 in Carroll County to the late Harvey D. and Nellie M. (Ray) Ulery.
On Oct. 1, 1989 in Deer Creek, IN she married Donald A. Nelson, who preceded her in death on May 26, 1979.
Violet retired from RBM after thirty five years of service. She had also worked at Logan Spring.
Violet was a lifetime member of the Church of the Brethren. She enjoyed cooking, baking (especially pies) and spending time with her family.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Joe) Fiscel, Logansport; Connie (Jim) Gray, Cincinnati, OH; one son, Ron (Jama) Nelson, Kokomo; one sister, Shirley Carithers, Logansport; seven granddaughters, Kim Willis, Tami (Pat) Fox and Jennifer Fiscel, all of Logansport, Debbie (Jay) Shephard, West Chester, OH; Kelly Gray, Amelia, OH; Leighanne (Bob) Sproles, West Lafayette; Tiffany Seekri, Kokomo; six grandsons, Stephen Fiscel, Logansport; Mark (Becky) Willis, Flora; Bruce (Claire) Gray, Amelia, OH; Brad (Jen) Nelson, David Nelson and Jarrod (Lindsey) Morgan, all of Kokomo; ten great granddaughters, Megan Shephard, Dallas, TX; Katie Shephard and Carrie Shephard, both of West Chester, OH; Kandice Gray, Amelia, OH; Amber (Michael) DeFabis, Indianapolis; Lexi Sproles, West Lafayette, Ashleigh (Nathan) Harshman, Oceanside, CA; Kensley Seekri, Ashlyn Morgan and Rylan Morgan, all of Kokomo; twenty two great grandsons, Benjamin (Katie) Spitler, Matthew (Cassie) Fox and Brandon Fiscel, all of Logansport; Andrew (Lauren) Fox, Qatar Nellis AFB, NV; Tyler Willis, Butler University; Jordan Willis, Flora; Justin Nevitt, Indianapolis; Rylan Shephard, West Chester, OH; James Gray, Craig Childs and Curtis Childs, all of Amelia, OH; Chad (Courtney) Clark, Columbus, OH; Dustin Nelson, Eric Nelson, Berkley Seekri, Bridgley Seekri, Zachary Barrett and Drew Barrett, all of Kokomo; Devin Barrett, Indianapolis; Alex Nelson, Raleigh, NC; Layne Sproles, West Lafayette; nine great great granddaughters, Kaelynn Fox, Ryleigh Spitler, Rory Spitler, Madeline Clark, Marie Gray, Emma Harshman, Scarlett Harshman, Sadie Harshman and Cora Harshman; five great great grandsons, Ben Spitler, Austin Fox, Dylan Harshman, Aiden Nelson and Andrew Clark; two sister-in-laws, Betty Morris, Logansport; Virginia Crimmins, Logansport; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Violet was preceded in death by three sisters, Donnabelle Nelson, Lou Fultz and Jean Norwood, four brothers, Hubert, Basil, John and Harold Ulery, one grandson, Rob Willis and one great grandson, Billy Spitler.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Church of the Brethren in Logansport with Pastor Aaron Gross officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
A visitation will be held at the Gundrum Funeral Home from 4-8 pm Friday, Jan. 17, 2014 and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Memorials may be made to the Church of the Brethren building fund.
