Walter Meyer

Walter F. Meyer, 93, of Logansport passed away Friday, May 3, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

Born January 9, 1920 in Logansport, he was the son of the late Carl and Flora Newmann Meyer. On February 10, 1952 in Logansport, he married Margaret E. Watts who preceded in death on January 27, 2006.

Walter retired from the Logansport Post Office as Postmaster in 1981 after 33 years of service.

He was a 1937 graduate of Logansport High School. Walter was a WWII United States Army Veteran serving from December 1941 until September 1945 with the 32nd Red Arrow Division. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Logansport where he served as a past treasurer.

Surviving Walter is one daughter, Mary (Tim) Donovan, Tampa, FL; two sons, Stephen (Susan) Meyer, Mentor, OH; and John (Carla)Meyer, Naples, FL; four grandsons, Patrick (Kimberly) Meyer, Berea, OH; Brian Meyer, Tucson, AZ; Shelby Meyer, Naples, FL; Jeffery Meyer, Spain; five granddaughters, Lauren Meyer, California; Maddie Meyer, Naples, FL; Pamela Donovan; Jennifer Donovan; and Rebecca Donovan, all of Tampa, FL; great grandson, Owen Meyer; and great granddaughter, Paige Meyer, both of Berea, OH; Sister, Mary Ann Johnson, Elkhart.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Anne Meyer, three brothers, Carl, Paul and James Meyer, and one sister, Ruth Meyer.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 6, 2013 at St. James Lutheran Church in Logansport with Pastor K.C. Dehning officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM on Monday, May 5, 2013 in the Gundrum Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
