LOGANSPORT â Waunita Johnson, 89, Logansport, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011, at her residence.
Born Dec. 23, 1921, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Bernard W. and Flotilla Lewis Cox. She was married April 15, 1939, in Indiana, to Wilson N. Johnson, who preceded in death on Sept. 11, 1996.
Waunita retired from Hendrickson Motor Sales, working in the parts department. She attended Miami Baptist Church and enjoyed crafts. She was a member of the VFW 3790 Womenâs Auxiliary.
Surviving are daughter, Betty Carney and husband, James, Twelve Mile; grandsons, James Carney Jr. and wife, Chris, High Ridge, Mo., and Robert Carney and wife, Shirley, Twelve Mile; great-granddaughters, Kellie Serra and husband, Nick, St. Louis, Mo., and Twyla Koppang and husband, Glen, St. Louis, Mo.; great-great-grandchildren, Haley, Samantha and Megan Serra and Veronica Koppang; and three nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnie and Kenneth Cox; and two sisters, Fern Musall and Mary A. Berkshire.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Gundrum Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Huse officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Logansport.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Miami Baptist Church Building Fund.
