William "Bill" "Harry" Cyrus Harrison

Emblem
William “Bill” “Harry” Cyrus Harrison passed into his Heavenly Father’s arms on March 2, 2024, at the age of 84.  Bill was the oldest of seven children born to Wilferd and Edith (Kidd) Harrison on February 10, 1940, in Logansport, Indiana.

Bill attended Logansport Schools throughout his junior year before graduating from Catalina High School in Tucson, Arizona while living with his aunt and uncle. Upon graduation in 1958, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy serving multiple tours in the Pacific and Japan on the Coral Sea aircraft carrier. Upon his return to Logansport, Bill was set up on a blind date to meet Roberta “Bobbi” Landis. After their initial date, they were married 17 days later at the Helm Street Church of God on January 20th 1963.

Bill worked for 40 years at Essroc Cement Company, welding and loading semi-trucks before retiring. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed spending time with family on fishing trips, mushroom hunting close to home and in Michigan. Notable, he greatly enjoyed planting a garden large enough to share with family, friends and neighbors. Bill never knew a stranger. He was always quick to greet anyone with a smile and a hearty “hello.” Whether it was cutting wood or a construction project, Bill was right there to lend a hand when help was needed.

A member of Pisgah Christian Church, Bill served as a Deacon and assisted with funeral dinners. While he was able, he also enjoyed helping to prepare and visiting with all who attended the monthly Loaves and Fishes meal.

Surviving Bill along with his wife of 61 years, Bobbi, are his two sons, Bill (Susan) and Scott (Jennifer) of Logansport; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Siblings include JoAnn Miller of Tucson, AZ; Ralph (Carletta) of Ft. Wayne, IN; James (Norma) of Daytona Beach, FL; Wilferd (Sharon) of Akron, IN; and Nola Harness (Doug Wells) of Lebanon, IN; two sisters in laws Kay (Paul) Bridge of Idaville, IN; and Edna Landis of Logansport; along with several nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary (Mick) Hallam, and two brothers in laws David Miller and Rick Harness.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Lewellen officiating.  Burial will follow in the Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville.

Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 PM on Friday, March 8, 2024, also in the Gundrum Funeral Home.

The family would like to acknowledge and thank all who cared for Bill and the Fresenius Kidney Care in Logansport. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to the Indiana Kidney Foundation at www.kidneyindiana.org.
