William "Bill" Mark Gallaher, 74 of Logansport, passed away at 10:58 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014 in his residence following an extended illness.
Born on March 11, 1940 in Logansport, he was the son of the late William and Ruth (Myers) Gallaher. In July of 1982, in Waukesha, Wisconsin he married Erika W. Septmacher who survives.
Bill served in the National Guard for 37 months, in the Army Corp of Engineers for 36 months, and in the U.S. Army as a tank mechanic in Germany. He was discharged in 1962 as specialist 4th class. Sec E4.
He retired from Chrysler Corp in Kokomo, in 2001 after 37 years of service. Bill graduated from Logansport High School in 1959. He was a member of the UAW 685, American Legion Post 60, VFW Post 3790, the N.R.A. and the Izaak Walton League.
Bill loved the outdoors as well as shooting sports. He was fond of tractors and muscle cars. It was comical how he would make it clear that "imports didn't count". We all will remember him most of his humorous, warm, kind-hearted and giving personality. Bill is well known for his amazing skills with gun-smithing artistry. His outstanding gun engraving, checkering, and restoration skills were documented in several national gun magazines.
Surviving along with his wife are three children, John Gallaher, Danny Gallaher, and Diane Blackford; three step sons, Ronnie (Mary Sue) Roller; Steave (Sherrie) Roller; and Bill (Donna) Roller; four siblings, Bruce (Judy) Gallaher; Burt (Ruthann) Gallaher; Mike (Sue) Gallaher; and Kathie Norlin; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Pastor Will Braniff officiating. Burial with full Military graveside rites will be in Davis Cemetery, Burnettsville, IN.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 PM Monday, April 7, 2014 also in the funeral home.
