Willis L. "Bill" Wardlow, 94, formerly of Mishawaka and Madison, Indiana passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013 at 5:20 PM at his residence in Logansport.
Born March 10, 1919, in Mishawaka, he was the son of the late Amos and Grace E. (Hively) Wardlow. On December 12, 1942 in Mishawaka he married Miriam Stevens who survives.
Bill retired from Conn Organ after 30 years of service.
He was a high school athlete and a 1937 graduate of Mishawaka High School. Bill served in the United States Army in World War II, first as a Sergeant and instructor at the Armored Force School at Fort Knox, then as a Signal Corps officer in India, Burma, and China, rising to the rank of Captain. Following the war, he returned to Mishawaka, and attended Valparaiso Technical Institute. In 1961, he and his family moved to Madison, Indiana. There, he was a long time member of Madison Presbyterian Church, serving as Elder, Treasurer, and choir member. He was a current member of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Logansport. Bill was a lifelong Chicago Cubs Fan.
Surviving along with his wife are two daughters, Carol Kelley, Logansport; Susan (Norman) Criss, Louisville, KY; one son, Jon (Dianna) Wardlow, Columbus, IN; two grandsons, Patrick Kelley, Lafayette; and Scott (Kandice) Criss, Shepherdsville, KY; four granddaughters, Julie (Benjamin) Flanagan, Independence, KY; Beth (Richard) Stumpf, Springfield, OH; Amy Wardlow; and Sarah Wardlow, both of Bloomington, IN; nine great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
A memorial service with full military rights will be held on Monday, June 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the Gundrum Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Mankell officiating.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Memorial Gardens in Mishawaka at a later date.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm until the time of service on Monday.
